Playing Terraria with friends across platforms
Terraria is a 2D sandbox adventure where you dig, build, fight bosses and explore worlds with friends. Its multiplayer is popular, but crossplay depends on the platform you use.
Guides report that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can join each other, and so can Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players. PC and mobile can play together through dedicated servers since the 1.4.5 update in January 2026. There is no crossplay between PC and consoles, between PlayStation and Xbox, or with Switch. Developer Re-Logic has said a first phase of wider crossplay is planned for a future patch, without a date.
If your group mixes PC and mobile, you need a dedicated server, which you can rent from a hosting provider or run yourself. Console groups should stay inside the same family and update the game before joining.
